Looking through my RSS feeds, I found an interesting post. It was from Future Technology. It had a object that could let deaf people feel the music! A music device is connected to this spiky ball that looks like a golf ball. On the bottom there is a little orange ring, the battery. I found that the battery looked really cool, I have never seen anything like it before.
With all the new technology coming out we have more ways of doing things. When I read this post, I was amazed. People are trying to make things better for people with disabilites. If we do more things like this, disabled people can do the things we do, and they can be just like us. When people make these wonderful inventions, it makes me think of how people can have disablities, and people are doing things so that they can do everyday things that we do. I really like this new invention and I think it will do really good. I would rate it a 3.5 on a scale of 5 (but that’s only my opinion!).
My mom might be getting a job in Flin Flon, which is good, I think that I have a problem about this though. Right now, living here we don’t see her much because she is usually working. I don’t like her working so much either. If she works in Flin Flon, we won’t see her for 4-6 days straight. Sure, my mom and I fight but I still like having her here, It is going to be a big change for me, like a HUGE one. I don’t think this is going to work out for my family, and having 3 of us doesn’t help either so I am thinking about living with my dad for a while so she can make enough money to support us three. With that being said here are my choices:

Today I am talking about Wired magazine. My teacher has them and brings them in for the class to read. I think that these magazines are cool, they show us a lot about the future technology. Reading them help me to create a picture in my mind about how the future will look.

Tomorrow is the day that the list is put up to see where everyone goes. My mom said that senority is important, she thinks she won’t have enough. If she is on that list then it is a miracle. If she doesn’t then we will have to move on. Hopefully we don’t go too far, as I really don’t want to leave. Where I am living now has been my hometown for 11 years. I am so used to being here and I hope that we move to another small community because I don’t really like cities, they are way to busy and hectic.
Let’s hope that we get the news that will get us the farthest in life, and it would be a miracle if she did.
Well, since the mine closed down and since the mill is closing down in May, I pretty much have my future planned out for me. Some people get to clean up the mill when it closes down and if my mom gets that job then we might not have to move. There is one problem though. My mom doesn’t have very much seniority which means all the other people will get picked first. I really hope my mom gets the job, but in another way I don’t because she would probably make more money somewhere else. If I move I will have to leave my best friends behind and I really don’t want to do that. My one best friend moved here in May last year and now if I move, I will leave in May.
Well, I hope that things go out the way they are supposed to and if I move, please mom, not too far.
Today we got news that scared us all. The mine here is closing down and in 6 weeks, everyone that works there is laid off. Our mine produces copper and zinc, but the price in ore nosedived. If you have enough seniority, you will be sent to Flin Flon to work, as there are many ores produced there. For my family, that is going to be hard. My mother is a single parent, with two kids. If she has to go to work in Flin Flon, where will we go? It scares me to think that this would happen, and to think that we didn’t believe it all this time? Our population will go down horribly, and yet there are South African families that have just moved here and were promised so many things. I think that the people here are going to go into a panic mode because there are so many parents that work at the mine, and they have to support their families. I just hope that the copper and zinc prices go back up again. There is supposed to be another mine coming around here; they are drilling to find where it all is.
Think about this.. If the prices go down lower, all of the mines will close.. and so many will be left without jobs. What will we do then?
In class we are exploring world issues and learning why they are wrong. I chose 2 topics, child abuse and animal cruelty. I think that these were good topics to choose because they are somethings that needs to be changed.
I think that we should subscribe to these websites I found. They talk about Child Abuse. A child abuse survivor talks about what happened in her childhood and she makes you think really hard about the issue.
The other blog is a great blog about child abuse around the world and the news on it. They are both great places to learn about child abuse. They will teach us a lot and I think that we should subscribe to them. I believe they will open our eyes more and we can feel what these kids are going through. Some of these kids are our age and yet, younger. I found a poem on the web about child abuse. You have probably heard of it before, yet everytime I read it I feel so sad. I have a video for you to watch.
I hope that people understand the need to stop this, and I hope that we subscribe to these wonderful sites that explain so much.
The other issue I found was Animal Cruelty. I went to one of the websites and saw a video that broke my heart. Industries in China torture these animals, then skin them alive. Do you think that is fair at all? Imagine being that animal, and having your skin peeled off you.. while you are alive. Imagine the pain these poor animals go through. I found these 2 websites that make you think really hard, and watching the video make me feel so sad. We should subscribe to these websites because they are made for good meaning, they teach us that what they are doing is wrong. They open our eyes to the issue. I understand it much more now, and I know it is not right. These websites show that it is wrong, and we should stop it. I think that they are very good websites and I believe they would do our classroom well. If you watch the video on the websites, you will be sickened by what is going on. Believe me, it is not a pretty sight.
Let’s subscribe to these sites, we will learn so much.
We are doing an assignment on issues around the world. We have to look for blogs that have information and something to do with our choice of issues. The issues I chose were: Animal Cruelty and Child Abuse. To me these are both very important issues. I don’t understand what the point is of skinning animals that are still alive and putting them through that pain. All those little kids have feelings too, so why do people hit them and yell at them when they should be living a happy life. I really don’t think I would like being one of those animals or one of those children. I think they should both be stopped, it is not right; not fair.
Just popped in to say happy new year and tell everyone how the holidays are going. I am going skidooing with my family and my brother is coming. My family from Winnipeg moved here and they have a lot of land.
We have exams at the end of the month. Time for class, I will write later!
