Santa’s lap.

26 11 2008

It’s that time of year again! Christmas is just around the corner and winter is soon to be at it’s fullest. It gets really cold here with the -30 degrees celcius and with the windchill, -50 degrees celcius. All this ‘wonderful’ weather started in October sometime and the lake is almost frozen. There have been a lot of skidoo’s out there, not the brightest idea.

I recently thought about Christmas and I wanted to tell you all what I want for Christmas. I really want a puppy! I highly doubt I would get that though. I also want a Nintendo DS system too.

What are your plans for Christmas? What do you want for a gift?

Life as Brianna.

25 11 2008

Well, nothing really interesting is happening here. There are some teams from some Northern communties coming here to play volleyball with us on Thursday and we are having a dance. I am really excited because lots of my friends from Wabowden are coming here. I can’t wait. I wish that the tournament was longer though, but whatever. We barely have school this week, we had half a day on Monday, we have a full day today and from what I have heard we have school for an hour on Wednesday. I think it is on Thursday though.  I think that everyone is excited, we get to hang out with a lot of our friends. I miss all my friends too, but the ones here are great. I like to hang out with Alysa, she is my best friend. We are both on the volley ball team.  My other best friend is Taylor. She’s on the team too.

All I got to say for today.

Volleyball in The Pas

21 11 2008

In my class all of the girls play volleyball, except Sumari because she just moved here and volleyball season is almost over for us. :( Volleyball is a fun sport. I love to hear the sound of someone serving the ball, and I love to hear the crowd cheer when a team gets a point. Volleyball makes me feel good and it is a good game to play when you want to forget about somethings. I think that everyone on our team is great and when we go to The Pas today, we will do great. Also my dad and my step mom is coming from a ways a way to come and watch me and the other girls play. This is going to be a great volleyball trip, I can see it. :)

GO TIGERS!!

The Victim, the Bystander and the One who started it all.

18 11 2008

Bullying. This is one tiny thing that grows and simply destroys a person. Bullying a kid, a friend or a coworker is not anything to be proud of. Bullying is never something you ever want to go through, it is something so scary. I really  hate when there are kids in the playground fighting and calling each other names. I think that bullies are people that want attention, as they aren’t getting enough.

But seriously, is bullying the answer? No. Bullying is something we are trying to stop but all it is doing is spreading. It has spread from school, to home and to the Internet. Being online is something to have fun with, not to be on your instant messenger getting teased by someone who is supposed to be your friend. I know what it feels like to be bullied so don’t let it get to you. Calmly walk away or just ignore it. If it is getting to you, go to your school counselors and they will surely help you out.

Don’t let this happen to you.

Smart Car verses Tango T600

14 11 2008

You may have thought Smart Cars were cool, and now the Tango T600 comes to compete against the Smart car.  These little guys are smaller than the average motorcycle and about 5 inches taller then the Honda Civic.

This little car is a green machine. It’s really quick, going from 0 to 60 in 4 seconds. I thought that this was a great thing for the environment and I also thought it was a nice way to get around. It goes as fast as 130 mph. It can survive 200 mph crashes and it costs a lot more than a Smart car too. This baby costs you $108,000. Have fun paying that bill.

Teens.. roaming the streets.

14 11 2008

Recently I noticed that a lot of kids my age and older are roaming the streets at like 2:30 a.m. This seems to be the time when all the crimes have been happening, like the smart car being tipped over. I think that our communtity should have a certain time for everyone to be inside and if you aren’t then the cops should escort you home. I think that this would be really effective and people should listen to what us teens have to say. Sure I am only 13 but I have a voice and I am willing to use it. I do not agree with young teens being out until 2 a.m. I think that midnight is late but that has gone too far.

The troubles with Teens.

13 11 2008

Being a teen makes you think that you have to be cool or you are nothing. Being placed into a group isn’t that great, unless you want to be in that group. When you watch movies there are usually the teens are usually placed into groups. If you are in the ‘cool’ group you usually end up doing what everyone else is doing. I have noticed that one of the ‘cool’ groups are gangs. Gangs are not a problem here, as this town is too small for that. Lots of teens have been joining gangs. That is a problem because once you get into a gang, it is hard to get out. Also another thing that I have noticed is kids dropping out of school, or skipping school. I remember going to a big city and I saw a girl my age buying baby clothes because she was pregnant! I was astonished. Now I wonder why kids are trying to grow up so fast. We only get to be kids for a while and instead of going out and going sliding down the snow hill in the winter, kids are out partying and having alcohol!

Life is stupid. Sometimes.

10 11 2008

I have noticed a lot of things happening this year that are not good. There have been a lot of teens doing drugs, getting drunk and being stupid. About 2 weeks ago a smart car was tipped over, fireworks were being set off and alot of other dangerous things. With the lake freezing over who knows what could happen when you are drunk. Being a teen in this generation kind of scares me, the things that us teens are doing. Recently there have been a lot of parties too. Now I wonder what lies ahead for these teens. What will their lives be like? Are they going to be addicted to drugs or alcohol?

Lots of teens are being pressured into doing these things that are supposed to make them cool, make them fit in. Seriously I wonder how cool it is going to be when you are 25, have no money and are homeless. I hope that something is changed for the better so that more and more kids stop putting themselves into so much danger.

Looking into the Past

10 11 2008

Looking back for the first few months of school makes me wonder. Have I impoved? Are more people reading my blog? Am I doing better? It kind of makes you worried about how you are doing. I think that I wrote a lot of school posts and not many personal posts and they were all about volleyball.

So far this year I have wrote 18 posts. I also left a lot of comments too. So far I have 9 comments. (I accidentaly deleted some.)

Blogging was something new to me last year and after a while I began to like it. I was kind of worried about the whole world reading my posts but after a while I got used to the fact that we used these pretty much everyday. I learned how to write a good post and how to make an interesting title so that people would read my blog. This year we introduced these to the grade 7’s. I thought it would be hard for them not using a blog before but my prediction was wrong. Thoroughout the 2 months I think that I have wrote quite alot. I think that I could improve this by writing better posts with links and videos and I also think that I should write more personal posts that I have been.

We used RSS a lot too. iGoogle was the main one we used. I thought that this was cool because we got to have an updated social studies textbook online. I thought it was great using it.

The Amazing Ultracapacitor LED Flashlight!!!

10 11 2008

Imagine that your car breaks down on the side of the road during your trip to the city. You go to grab your flashlight and you turn it on to find that it is dead. Now if you would have had a flashlight that takes no batteries and only takes 90 seconds to charge things would have been easier for you.

Dvice explained this flashlights great features. It has a big dollar sign on the tag. This baby costs $170.00. I think that this a great product and the price is pretty good for how well it sounds. I think personally I wouldn’t buy it because you can find good quality flashlights in average grocery stores.
